Yikes, talk about tiny! I don't generally look after microbats as flying-foxes keep me more than busy but the call came this morning for a little microbat in a box so off we headed. This poor furless little boy was found on the ground in a school yard and he was terribly cold and hungry. Not having a clue what to do with him, I jumped straight on the phone to Michelle, our Microbat Coordinator and was given instruction to heat the little fellow to around 35 degrees C and to offer some warmed goa

This Lesser Long Eared baby microbat has now been in care with Bat Rescue South Australia for a few days. Just love their cheeky little characters. So far Thumbelina is thriving with her carer. Once again our heartfelt thanks to the Para Hills Vet Clinic for organising antibiotics for this little one.
